28/04/2021

Let's pay tribute to Mihály Babits, on the 80th anniversary of his death. We can thank the poet and literary translator's diligence that we're able to read - among others - Shakespeare, Dante and Sophocles's works in Hungarian. (His hous is on our poster.)

The delinquents of the town

A young man was brought to the police station on a Wednesday evening, for lingering on public property after curfew. The rulebreak was aggravated by ignoring to wear a mask, and noise violation as well. The police were called by an elderly lady, who claims that she heard loud dialogue from the street around 10 pm and couldn't sleep calmly because of it. The boy confessed that that evening he went to visit his sweetheart, Juliet at the adress Reviczky street 7 from Budapest, and that she was waiting for him on the balcony facing the street. The lad named Romeo DiCaprio states that he only wanted to declare his love for the girl, which Juliet thanked by throwing him a rose ripped out from the flower pots on the veranda. According to the report of the eyewitness - a lost pizza delivery man - the youngsters weren't being too noisy, in fact when he asked Romeo for some directions, the boy readily helped him. As stated by the documents at the police station, the boy and girls' parents had previously been involved in other cases, which usually ended in fights; but since Romeo wasn't involved in those, they let him off with a warning.
