Interview

22/04/2021

The band Carson Coma is one of the most popular bands of undergraduates in Hungary. They formed in the year 2018 and have been collecting musical recognition ever since. For example, in 2020 they received a Phonogram award (Fonogram-díj) which is basically a hungarian Grammy. The corona virus has brought difficulties to the carrier of the band of 6, nevertheless, they keep working hard and wait for the opportunity to finally play music on a stage again. Interview with Giorgo Fekete, the half-italian front man of the band.

-Does your mixed cultural heritage affect your songs/lyrics?

-It certainly does, but it's hard to say, because there isn't anything to compare it with. My origin adds to my personality, and personality is reflected in song lyrics intentionally or unintentionally.

-How much do you maintain Italian habits here, in Hungary?

-My family was never one to celebrate lots of holidays, so it's not typical. Nevertheless, we celebrated Befana* from time to time.

-Do you have any songs in Italian?

-Yes we do, it's title is "Il Coccodrillo".

-Do you want to gain recognition only in the Hungarian field?

-That's the priority for now and for the long run, who knows!

-During the coronavirus what difficulties did you have to face, as musicians?

-Logically, the most conspicuous difficulty is the lack of concerts, equally spiritually and financially. Furthermore it was hard that we couldn't see each other for months.

-Were there any advantages in staying home all day for you, besides the creation of "Pók"?

-We created a big part of our second album (Lesz, Ami Lesz) in quarantine, away from each other, so from that point of view there were advantages.

-How much can you rehearse together, or produce new songs in this situation?

-Yes, we do come together to rehearse carefully looking after ourselves and each other.

-How much did your fans' population/activity change lately?

-We recently released an album and later on a video clip single, which our followers took positively- so those numbers increased and we are very happy for that, it's good to have someone to play music to!

-All in all, what's your opinion about the whole situation?

-Naturally we would like to play live concerts as soon as possible- take the bus, stop at a gas station- but the most important thing is that everyone is cautious and takes care of themselves, until then, we will write some new songs!

-Thank you very much for the answers!
